Hajime Kimura

Presented within the framework of the 4th edition of Festival Analógica in Chamusca (Ribatejo), “Surface - Modern archaeological investigation” by Japanese artist Hajime Kimura explores the boundaries of experimental and analogue photography.

Curated by Procur.arte in partnership with Tira-Olhos – Associação de Fotografia Experimental, the exhibition centers on slow, cameraless, and experimental photographic processes. Kimura’s work deepens the dialogue between lived reality and handcrafted developing techniques, shifting away from standard digital representation to work directly with shapes, textures, colors, and sensory substrates.

The project operates as a contemporary visual archive, using chemical and analogue symbols to uncover hidden layers of the landscape, turning the photographic emulsion into a site for modern archaeological inquiry.
